\u00a0 The history of Macedonia<\/strong><\/a> has its roots in the very old times. It begins in antiquity and reaches, through the centuries, full of brilliantly intriguing pages of struggle, heroism, culture, action, disaster, victory and glory.<\/h6>\n
\u00a0 Philip IV organized Macedonia as a modern state of the time and laid the foundations of Greater Greece. Philip IV prepared the situation and gave a strong Macedonia to his son Alexander.<\/h6>\n
\u00a0 Alexander<\/strong><\/a> the Great Born in Pella, Macedonia in July 356 BC. His parents were King Philip II of Macedonia and Princess Olympiada of Epirus. He was one of the most important generals in history, and during the 13 years of his reign (336 – 323 BC) he conquered most of the then-known world east (Asia Minor, Persia, Egypt etc), reaching on the outskirts of India, and without losing in a battle he himself fought.<\/h6>\n
Program<\/h6>\n
In our effort to highlight the most important museums of Macedonian History we created a cycling tour.<\/h6>\n
Day 1:<\/span> Route: Thessaloniki -> Museum of Pella:<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Starting from the statue of Alexander the Great in Thessaloniki heading for Pella and the modern museum of Pella.<\/span><\/h6>\n
Visit and tour the museum<\/strong><\/a> (3 hours).<\/h6>\n
Accommodation in the city of Giannitsa.<\/strong><\/a><\/h6>\n
Day 2:<\/span> Route: Giannitsa -> Vergina<\/strong><\/a> After a healthy breakfast of traditional products from the land of Macedonia, the route will start from the statue of Alexander the Great in front of the town hall of Giannitsa in the direction of the little town. and finish at the Vergina Museum.<\/span><\/h6>\n
Visit and tour the museum<\/strong><\/a> (2:30 hours).<\/h6>\n
Accommodation in the city of Veria.<\/strong><\/a><\/h6>\n
Day 3:<\/span> Route: Veria -> Dion<\/strong><\/a>. Starting from the Royal Tombs of Vergina heading towards the Museum of Dion, most of the route crosses the coastal part of Katerini overlooking the mythical Mount Olympus where the 12 gods lived.<\/span><\/h6>\n
Visit and tour the museum<\/strong><\/a> of Dion. (3 hours).<\/h6>\n
Return to the city of Thessaloniki.<\/h6>\n
