International Cycling Tour of Greece
APRIL 27 – MAY 1, 2022
Greece is again at the center of international racing cycling, with the revival of the International Cycling Tour of Greece.
The race has been upgraded to the World Cycling Federation (UCI) calendar for 2022, with the participation of 140 stars of the sport from 20 professional and national teams. It is a global organization that returns to Greece, with the aim of highlighting the demanding sport of cycling and of course to highlight the beauties of the country.
Greece, after more than 10 years, is ready to welcome the “foam” of competitive cycling, in a big celebration, from April 26 until
May 1. The beginning will take place in Crete, continuing to mainland Greece and ending in Ioannina.
As part of the Cycling Tour of Greece, a series of parallel actions and events will be organized, before and during the race. The ultimate goal of these is to achieve greater friction of citizens with the bike, as well as their gradual familiarization with its correct and safe use.
The duration of the race is five stages. Heraklion, Chania, Athens, Trikala and Ioannina will be in the center of interest, because they will host the glamorous body and the members of the teams. Parallel actions will be carried out in these cities.
The only cyclist who won the jersey of the General Classification in the International Tour of Hellas, is Vassilis Anastopoulos, in 2003! In fact, his victory was celebrated in his birthplace, Megalopolis, where the Tour ended!
