The Macedonia Gran Fondo 2021  is a long-distance cycling race for amateur cyclists with or without a license.

These races come from the Italian expression “Gare di Fondo”, which means “distance racing”, mainly by age group and participants compete at different distances and levels of difficulty. The races with different distances are called “Gran Fondo”, “Mezzo Fondo” and “Fondo”. “Gran Fondo” is used for the longest route.

The Gran Fondo cycling races, which have been popular in Europe for decades, now attract much attention in other continents. The Gran Fondo competitions offer the area held as a high-level sporting event, cultural experience, athletic excellence and social responsibility.

The race will be held for the first time in mainland Greece and specifically in the geographical boundaries of the Municipality of Aristotle, focusing on the city of Ierissos, between 27th-29th of August 2021  and is a great opportunity for Greeks, who will take part, to set up a big cycling target for 2021.

Qualification to the 2021 World Championship will be given to the 20% of the riders from each age category according to the final general classification and they will be able to race for the World Champion title, in Sarajevo-Bosnia (6th-10th of October 2021) World Amateurs Championships.

From 24/8 to 26/8 there will be 2 itineraries daily (morning-afternoon) so that we can serve as many athletes as possible.

Morning itinerary from Thessaloniki-Macedonia airport 12:30-13:00.

Afternoon itinerary 18:30-19:00

Return itineraries to the airport Macedonia-Thessaloniki will be available from 30/8/21.

Afternoon itinerary 16:00
